Whomp

Whomps as they appear in Super Mario 64.

A beta version of a Whomp.

Whomps are large, Thwomp-like enemies in the Mario series. They are large grey slabs with arms, legs, eyes and a mouth. They attack by attempting to crush Mario. They are defeated by ground-pounding their backs while they are on the floor. They have a boss variant known as King Whomp. They mainly appear in Whomp's Fortress.

Enemy Discoloring can create Blue Whomps. These Whomps can create shockwaves seen in the final Bowser boss fight upon hitting the ground, though the shockwaves are usually smaller.
