Whacka Mole is an anomalous and likely unused minigame found in some personalized copies of Super Mario 64 DS. It has been reported to be a minigame for any playable character, including Waluigi. It takes place on Tall, Tall Mountain, with an array of varying sizes of holes in the ground. Monty Moles will pop out of the holes, and the goal is to hit them. However, the minigame appears to be incredibly buggy and unfinished, as hitting a Monty Mole crashes the game and can potentially brick your DS, in a similar manner to beating Dazzling Waluigi in Waluigi Mode.
Description[]
Upon being unlocked, Whacka Mole's beginning cutscene shows the player character popping out of a pipe in Tall, Tall Mountain and running up to the array of holes, most commonly 3x3 or 5x5. Monty Moles will begin to hop out of the holes, and the player will walk over screen and then back with a hammer as the minigame begins. The player can run around the screen and hit the A button to swing the hammer. A point count is seen in the top left corner of the top screen. Upon hitting a Monty Mole, the game will crash, potentially resulting in the loss of save data. Some have even reported the entire DS is bricked and deemed unusable. A red Monty Mole can occasionally appear, and hitting it doesn't crash the game, but makes you lose a point. If you hit negative points, which is the only possible choice in the minigame, the minigame will end and the player will be kicked back to the Rec Room. Some have even reported Whacka from Paper Mario can appear off to the side, but what they do is not known. They presumably have a boss battle considering the unused fight with them in Paper Mario 64 and Dazzling Waluigi. This game is weird, man.
