Wasteofblood pfp

The YouTube profile picture for Wasteofblood.

Wasteofblood is a YouTuber known for documenting several anomalous levels in Super Mario 64, particularly their soundtracks. They are most famous for being the first to document Chroma Tundra. While they have documented very few levels overall, they have made several videos on the levels they've documented, and are tied to other music-related findings on other channels, such as First Name Last Name. They have also documented unused content in other games, like Ura Zelda. Their channel can be found here.

1995/07/29 Build - Chroma Tundra OST[]

The first and most iconic Wasteofblood video showcases Chroma Tundra, a well known 4th Floor area. The screenshot shown appears to be on the top of a mountain, with Mario using the anomalous Ice Cap and scaling multiple platforms in what appears to be a stormy sky. The music itself is very bleak and different from any other songs, likely due to this level's relatively dark theme, and nature as an unused level.

1995/07/29 Build - Chroma Tundra Citadel OST[]

The second video on Chroma Tundra, it appears to take place in the Citadel sub-area of Chroma Tundra, showing Mario falling down a hole with blue bricks down to some water, where a Skeeter can be seen. The song itself is fitting of a fortress, being very seriously toned, again contrasting from the final game.

1995-07-29 Build - Grubbas Gloomy Circus Basement OST

1995/07/29 Build - Grubbas Gloomy Circus Basement OST[]

The first video related to Grubba's Gloomy Circus, this video shows the song that plays in the basement sub-area of the level, notably skipping the main area of the level. The image shows an area with a rock floor, very dark wall, a torch, and a painting that shows Princess Peach's face, a hallmark of this area. Fitting this area's creepy nature, the song follows suit, being very foreboding, while also somewhat similar to the Citadel theme.

1995-07-29 Build - Grubba boss fight OST

The second video documenting Grubba's Gloomy Circus, this video plays the boss theme against Grubba himself in the final mission of the level. The image itself is very distorted, though shows Grubba, having a similar build to Bowser, fighting Mario, with a clone of Mario also on the arena, which is being circled by Unagi eels while floating in what appears to be a purple void. The song itself fits the boss in question, being a dark magician with plenty of spells that can surprise the player.

Dry Dry Dunes Theme[]

While not specifically uploaded by Wasteofblood, this video by First Name Last Name credits Wasteofblood as having ripped it from their copy. This video documents the music seen in the Dry Dry Dunes level. In the screenshot, Luigi is seen standing in a dark desert with multiple large dunes jutting out, as Klepto is seen flying in the distance, holding a Power Star. This area is noticeably less complex than most other areas shown in Wasteofblood's own videos. The song itself is rather gloomy, though relatively less dark than Waste's other videos.

1995-07-29 Build - Red Moon Monastery OST

1995/07/29 Build - Red Moon Monastery OST[]

The first of 3 videos, this shows the theme that plays in the main area of Red Moon Monastery, starting currently the most complete collection of songs associated with a level. In the image, the player can see Mario sliding across a path in an area with several red trees, a big red church that appears to have a Boo on the stained glass, and several red Boos with their original face textures surrounding the area. The sky is also red, giving the entire level a red tint. The song itself, instead of taking the approach of the song that plays in Big Boo's Haunt and mainly using ambience, is rather unnerving, fitting this level's rather dark tones throughout the entire description. Notably, this video's description mentions this level being accessed in a location known as the "Lunar Tower", which has yet to be documented anywhere else.

1995/07/29 Build - Red Moon Monastery Catacombs OST[]

Similarly to the other sets of videos, the second video associated with Red Moon Monastery takes place in the catacomb sub-area located beneath the basement. The image shows Mario holding his head in a red basement-like area with multiple gray boxes and Dry Bones scattered throughout. The song is rather similar to Red Moon Monastery's main theme and the basement theme of Grubba's Gloomy Circus, being very dark and unsettling, fitting this area's nature. Notably, in the description, someone named Jim is credited for making the image easier to see. Jim is also known as First Name Last Name, who uploaded the Dry Dry Dunes theme associated with Wasteofblood.

1995-07-29 Build - Spectral Scourge Boss fight walkthrough-OST

1995/07/29 Build - Spectral Scourge Boss fight walkthrough/OST[]

This is the third and final video associated with Red Moon Monastery, and the most complex, as instead of only playing music, it actually has gameplay leading up to the song itself. The video begins with a mission screen for Red Moon Monastery, which shows the course number as 18, meaning this is the 3rd extra course in the copy, the other 2 likely being Chroma Tundra and Grubba's Gloomy Circus. The missions shown are named: OVER THE CHANCEL, BEHIND THE CAGE, BOOS IN THE BASEMENT, BREAKING BOXES FOR 8 RED COINS, THE CATACOMBS' KEY, and UNLOCKING THE HAUNTED VAULT, the final one being selected. The player enters the level, notably having 141 stars collected, with the first RMM theme playing in the background as they enter the church, where there is a hallway with 2 red Boos, and 3 doors, one of which is locked. They enter the locked door and access a small room with a hole in the floor, which they fall down, leading to a very large hallway that begins with a slope downwards. At the end of the hallway is a hidden trap door that leads down another hole, being warped into a sub-area with no music. This room is largely made up of a void, with a light at the end revealing carpet and a door, similarly to an area seen in the Castle Garden and His Domain. The player enters the door and ends up in another void room, with carpet leading up to a raised platform with 2 torches and large, menacing white eyes peering from the shadows. The footage cuts out, and an image of the boss fades in, showing the 2 eyes to belong to a large blue flame with a face on it reminiscent of the one seen in the Lethal Lava Land painting, with 2 red Eyerok hands to attack the player. The song itself is rather menacing, yet being more similar to songs like the Citadel of Chroma Tundra rather than Grubba's boss theme.
