The Whomp's Fortress Creature is a bizarre anomaly found in some personalized copies of Super Mario 64. Despite being named after the Whomp's Fortress level, where it is most prevalent, it has been reported to appear in several other levels, such as Bob-omb Battlefield and the Whomp's Fortress Interior. The Whomp's Fortress Creature is an entity, but the name has been generalized to just report several odd cases of corruption in otherwise normal copies of Super Mario 64 that appear to be caused by some "sentient" force.

Description[]

The Whomp's Fortress Creature has been accused of several corruption-like anomalies, particularly in otherwise normal copies that have minimal amounts of glitches. These glitches have occasionally been mistaken for the appearance of the Whomp's Fortress Creature, which has never directly shown itself in confirmed reports, though some proposals has been made for it's appearance.

The exact anomalies tied to the otherwise hypothetical entity include bizarre objects manifesting such as strange spinning bars on top of the Whomp's Fortress tower, a strange pink object appearing out of bounds and piercing through the level, a black mass appearing and covering a majority of the level, enemies, particularly Whomps, and NPCs disappearing, which has been theorized to be the result of the Whomp's Fortress Creature "eating" them, disabled object collisions, the entire game turning black and white when in the presence of the creature, a mysterious gray object believed to be a cloud appearing above the level, a bizarre large Whomp appearing somewhere in the level, and a strange sound dubbed the "laughter" of the Whomp's Fortress Creature playing in place of the music. This laughter is described as strange high pitched beeping sounds.

Theorizing[]

The Whomp's Fortress Creature has been tied to the Ruins level, which is reported to have a strange entity that "destroyed" the level. These theories have remained as theories though, as no reports of this entity have said it was the Whomp's Fortress Creature, though claims have been made that manifestations of the Whomp's Fortress Creature occurred before Whomp's Fortress transformed into the Ruins level. Except for these claims, it is assumed that these are separate entities.

The Whomp's Fortress Creature has also been accused of being false, instead being corruption, glitches and the Personalization A.I. malfunctioning, though due to most reports making these claims only saying they appeared particularly in Whomp's Fortress would mean that either there is a mysterious higher likelihood of corruption of Whomp's Fortress, or the Whomp's Fortress Creature exists.
