Sunny Star Mansion is an anomalous version of Big Boo's Haunt characterized by gaining a "happy" theme, and having several different pieces of geometry that keep Sunny Star Mansion from being classified as a case of Dynamic Level Rearrangement, though some believe the level to be created via Dynamic Level Arrangement. The level has also been reported to be very unstable, though it is not known this level in particular is the one with the most reports of instability.

Description[]

Sunny Star Mansion is said to be very similar to Big Boo's Haunt in geometry, though has several differences, such as a lack of cage around the edge of the level, all signs of the basement being removed, and a majority of the textures being replaced. There are also several reports of a backyard area with several trees, flowers, and a large tree sub-area that must be traversed to obtain a Power Star.

The level reportedly has a story in it similarly to Bob-omb Battlefield. The most common story is that Boos have invaded Sunny Star Mansion to use it as a home, kicking out the original residents. Another story is that the mansion is inhabited by Bob-omb Buddies and that the mansion has started to fall into disrepair, causing several enemies to begin appearing. These stories generally have minimal effect on the majority of the level.

Sunny Star Mansion is also characterized by it's general instability with buggy collision, broken camera, corrupted mission names, and also the game randomly crashing. It is not yet understood why this occurs in this specific level, though it's potentially due to an instance of Dynamic Level Arrangement specifically altering a level model instead of crafting a new one.

Missions[]

The most common stars reported in Sunny Star Mansion are repeats of stars in Big Boo's Haunt such as stars for defeating Big Boos and a Big Mr. I. Some other reported stars are for collecting 5 secrets, obtaining a star from a Bob-omb Buddy if they are present, entering a Boo painting or it's equivalent using the Vanish Cap similarly to the hidden star in Big Boo Battle from Super Mario 64 DS, or finding a star in a secret compartment behind the stairs leading up to the second floor.

Report 1[]

This report is tied to a video uploaded by Youtuber First Name Last Name documenting Sunny Star Mansion. It begins on the title screen, with the player going from the Castle Grounds to the Second Floor before jumping into one of the paintings next to Wet-Dry World associated with The Sun. They enter Sunny Star Mansion, which is marked as course 17, with 2 missions. One of the mission's name is corrupted, and the other is purely empty. Upon entering the level, the camera is stuck in place, and the dialogue from Bowser in Bowser in the Fire Sea plays before the game audibly crashes.
