Spiny in Super Mario 64

Description

Spiny are enemies in the Super Mario Bros. series, appearing in Super Mario 64, usually being thrown by Lakitus. They are small yellow turtles with red shells with yellow spikes.

Phenomena

Blue Shell

Due to Enemy Discoloring, Spiny have been reported in some copies to appear more blue, potentially as a reference to their appearance in cave levels in previous Super Mario games, or as a unintended reference to the Blue Shell item seen in most Mario Kart games.

Eyes

Some copies have been reported to have had Spiny that have a complete face, potentially done by the A.I. to make the enemies look more friendly and fit in more.
