Spindrift

Spindrift in Super Mario 64

Spindrifts are flower-like enemies in Mario 64. They deal damage upon contact with Mario, and are defeated by being jumped on. When the enemy is defeated, Mario will spin up into the air. They appear in Cool, Cool Mountain and Snowman's Land. They are white spheres with green leaves protruding from the lower part of the sphere with pink flowers on top of the sphere.

Phenomena[]

Dancing Flower[]

In some copies of the game, Spindrifts release a cloud of particles upon their death. When these particles land, they form as the unused dancing flower graphic. It is possible that the flowers were meant to be the seeds left behind by a defeated Spindrift and could possibly have sprouted into their own smaller enemies or items.
