MIPS Hole Wiki

The Linked Worlds Phenomenon is an anomaly where a course leads back to the Castle Grounds or other castle areas, similarly to how Dire, Dire Docks connects to the lake area of the Castle Grounds. Every main course has been reported to have this phenomenon. It is currently unknown why the Personalisation A.I. creates this phenomenon.

Examples of the Linked Worlds Phenomenon[]

Below is a list of common examples of the Linked Worlds Phenomenon. Note that these examples may be different in certain personalized copies.

Bob-omb Battlefield[]

In this course, part of the wall around the map can disappear. Upon entering this opening, it will lead to the Castle Grounds.

Whomp's Fortress[]

In this course, if the player grabbed Hoot and flew towards the skybox, the player could fall from the sky near the edge of the Castle Grounds.

Jolly Roger Bay[]

In this course, if the player swims into the tunnel that Unagi resides in, they can be teleported into the lake at the castle grounds. However, many reports instead claim it leads to Cavern of the Unagi.

Cool, Cool Mountain[]

In this course, if the player fell down the area in between the Mother Penguin's area and the Wall Kicks Will Work area, the player could end up in the Castle Grounds. However, several reports claim that instead of ending up in the Castle Grounds, they ended up in Cold, Cold Crevasse.

Big Boo's Haunt[]

In this course, if the player clips outside of the cage, they can end up in the Castle Courtyard next to the cage. However, many reports claim they instead accessed Big Boo's Forest.

Hazy Maze Cave[]

In this course, if the player falls into any hole throughout the level, the player can appear in the Basement.

Lethal Lava Land[]

In this course, if the player attempts to enter the volcano, they could instead be flung to the Castle Grounds while taking damage from fire.

Shifting Sand Land[]

In this course, if the player jumps into a tornado, they could instead be flung from the sky into the Castle Grounds.

Dire, Dire Docks[]

Seeing as this course is already connected to the Castle Grounds, there has been no Linked Worlds Phenomenon associated with it yet.

Wet-Dry World[]

There has been no discovered Linked Worlds Phenomenon in this course.

Tall, Tall Mountain[]

In this course, if the player continued going towards the skybox after getting pushed up by a gust of wind, they could be flung from the sky to the Castle Grounds.

Tiny-Huge Island[]

If the player goes into the water in this level and swim towards the skybox, this can lead into the Castle Grounds.

Snowman's Land[]

In this course, if the Snowman blows the player off of the platform in front of it, they can be flung into the Castle Grounds.

Tick Tock Clock[]

In this course, if a player punched a random wall in the course, a hole could appear that when entered could lead back to the Third Floor of the castle. However, some reports state it instead leads to the Clockwork Innards.

Rainbow Ride[]

In this course, if the player fell off of the course, they could end up falling into the Castle Grounds.
