Kotton Kandy Kitchen, also known as Cotton Candy Kitchen, is an anomalous level found in some personalized copies of Super Mario 64. It has been described as a desert-like area made up of cotton candy with various different foods scattered around the course, resembling Luncheon Kingdom from Super Mario Odyssey, potentially being inspiration for this later level. It has been said to replace Shifting Sand Land, though has appeared in other places such as a supposed Castle Kitchen area in Princess Peach's Castle.
Description[]
Kotton Kandy Kitchen is described as a food and candy-themed level, particularly cotton candy, hence the name. The ground of the level appears to be made of cotton candy, and level is dotted with large versions of real life food such as tomatoes and peppers, as well as several stereotypical candies such as candy bars. These large edibles can be climbed, allowing for traversal throughout a majority of the level. No specific enemies appear in this level, though several have said the enemies attempt to eat the large food.
A common sub-area has been reported to take place inside of a giant cake, reportedly taking a similar design to the anomalous Delicious Cake level, with a special boss known as the Cake Eater, often being a Wiggler reskin though it can be a unique boss, that is consuming the cake from the inside out. Their behavior varies, either being identical to a Wiggler or having unique attacks such as spitting pieces of cake at the player.
Missions[]
Some common Power Stars reportedly found in Kotton Kandy Kitchen include an 8 red coins star, a 5 secrets star in a specific area in the level, climbing some food to a certain area where a Power Star resides, and defeating the Cake Eater. Some less commonly reported Power Stars include going through an alternate route in the cake sub-area, getting to the top of the cake in the main section of the level, and defeating a certain amount of enemies eating one of the large pieces of food somewhere in the level.
