Heave-Hos are enemies in Mario 64. They are red robots with a wind-up key on their backs holding a platform that, when stood on by Mario, will fling them behind the Heave-Ho. They appear in Tick Tock Clock, Wet-Dry World, and Battle Fort in the DS Remake. Heave-Hos patrol certain areas, making the sound of an active machine while moving, similar to a Chuckya. Occasionally they will stop moving, then will wind itself up and continue it's pattern of movement. In Wet-Dry World, they will disappear when the water level reaches the platform they are on, only reappearing when the water level is lowered.
Phenomena[]
Winding Up[]
According to some players, after leading a Heave-Ho around for long enough, they will run out of energy and their key will stop spinning. It is supposedly possible for the player to step behind it and interact to wind their key back up. This makes the Heave-Ho friendly, preventing them from chasing the player around. However, the player will still be launched if they walk onto their platform.
