Coincidental Character Creation is an anomaly where the Personalization A.I. creates characters similar to those seen in later installments of the Super Mario Bros. series, despite not knowing about said characters. These characters often have some differences, likely due to the unaware nature of the Personalization A.I. regarding the characters it creates. It most commonly appears with less major characters, or variants of characters that only appeared in later games. It is possible that this anomaly has inspired some characters created later in the Super Mario Bros. series by Nintendo, though this is unconfirmed.
Examples[]
There have been several documented examples of Coincidental Character Creation. Below is a list of examples of the anomaly. Note that these are the most common forms of the examples, and may be different in other copies.
Scout Toad[]
Scout Toad is a CCC version of Captain Toad. They are a Toad in brown clothing with brown dots on their head instead of red dots. They often replace the Toads that give stars, claiming they found the stars by exploring. However, they can also supposedly be found in levels and function the same.
King Toad[]
King Toad is a CCC version of Toadsworth. They have a similar appearance to Scout Toad, however they have a walking stick, a beard, and a crown. They can be mentioned by Toads during dialogue or be seen in a painting.
Pink Toad[]
Pink Toad is a CCC version of Toadette. They are a Toad with pink clothing and pink dots on their head. They can replace regular Toads, including star-giving Toads.
Capston[]
Capston is a CCC version of Cappy. They are a Boo with a hat on similar to Mario's hat. They can be found functioning as a regular Boo or Big Boo, or in a painting similarly to King Toad.
Baby Chomp[]
Baby Chomps are CCC versions of Chain Chomplets. They are a smaller Chain Chomp. They have been reported to hop around in Bob-omb Battlefield and then target the player upon spotting them. Notably, this is also a reported behavior for the regular Chain Chomp and White-Eyed Chomp. The Baby Chomp also functions similarly to the Chain Chomp during the Silver Star mission in Super Mario 64 DS' Bob-omb Battlefield.
Skull Goomba[]
Skull Goombas are CCC versions of Bone Goombas. They are Goombas wearing a skull in the shape of their head. They usually function the same as a regular Goomba, though has been reported to take 2 hits to defeat instead of 1 due to the skull functioning as a helmet. They usually appear in Bowser levels or cave levels.
Mini Bowser[]
Mini Bowser is a CCC version of Bowser Jr. As the name suggests, it is a smaller version of Bowser, usually with minimal design and attack changes, though some can occur. It usually functions as a mini-boss somewhere in a Bowser level, typically being optional and rewarding either a red coin or a Power Star, though fighting them can occasionally be required to progress through the level. Notably, Mini Bowser has also been reported to have it's own level similar to a regular Bowser level, though this has consistently been optional in confirmed reports.
