Carnivorous Cavern is the name of a rare stage that replaces Tick Tock Clock in some personalized copies of Super Mario 64 (though there are unverified reports of the stage appearing elsewhere). The stage takes place in a large cave where an extremely large Yoshi occasionally emerges from. This "Yoshi" will charge and attack Mario if he isn't hiding.

Missions[]

While reports on this stages stars vary, there are three missions that are relatively consistent:

  1. PARKOURING IN THE CAVES (Requires you to do an obstacle course.)
  2. SAILING 'CROSS THE UNDERGROUND LAKE (Requires you to jump aboard a slowly moving platform as you dodge enemies that emerge from the underground lake's waters.)
  3. RED COINS HIDING IN THE NEST (Requires you to carefully collect red coins as the eggs in the nest release enemies when touched.)
  4. 100 COIN STAR (Requires you to collect 100 coins.)

Other reported stars include defeating the giant Yoshi and finding 5 special areas.

Phenomena[]

Binary Sign[]

Many reports of this level say that deep within the caves there is a sign that says "Erin" in binary. It is unclear what this means if it means anything at all, however some have concluded that this is just the Personalization AI poking fun at the player.

Level Trigger Duplication[]

For a reason still unknown the level's entrance trigger will occasionally be duplicated and placed elsewhere in Peach's Castle. If this duplication exploit is preformed enough times it may become impossible to move anywhere in Peach's Castle without entering Carnivorous Cavern. Some theorists believe that this may be a rare behavior of Mario 64's AI, but that is unconfirmed.

Out Of Bounds Star[]

One report of this stage states that there is a star named "Befriending The Dino" that when achieved spawns the star so far out of bounds that no player could ever reach it. However these claims have yet to be verified.
