Bowser in the Castle Courtyard is an anomalous mission reported on a recently discovered cartridge. It'd feature Bowser in the Courtyard, destroying the fountain in it. It's still unclear why would Bowser destroy the statue, but Bowser probably just unintentionally smashed it when jumping down from the sky.
Phenomena[]
Anomalous Manifestation[]
Bowser in the Castle Courtyard is an anomalous mission that could be found in some copies of the game. The way to make it happen is very inconsistent, but in one report, the player first-person viewed the L is real 2401 sign right after collecting the 120th star. After that, Bowser landed right into the water fountain, then a boss fight started. The way to fight Bowser is still the same: Drag his tail and throw him away. But since no exploding spiked balls were in the courtyard, no consistent ways of defeating Bowser are present. But the user claimed that Bowser is defeated when he's threw into the Big Boo in the courtyard.
Reports[]
This is unconfirmed and possibly fake, so think before you believe it.
Report 1:[]
"One day, I was just playing Super Mario 64 for fun. After researching the Score screen, I found that the last remaining star was in Big Boo's Haunt! I entered the level without thinking and got the final star. My friend once told me that the statue in the courtyard writes out "L is real 2401", so I entered first-person mode to look at it closer. But a few seconds later, Bowser landed on the fountain and destroyed it. It said, 'Gwa Ha Ha! Long time no see, Mario! So you think that you won after the battle at my sky domain, but you are wrong! This time, we will battle right there!' I had no choice but to grab Bowser and swing his tail. I found that there aren't bomb balls anymore, so I just randomly threw him. He landed on the Big Boo(Who revived for unknown reasons), and got bombed into the now ruined fountain. Bowser then said, 'Argh! Why did I lose again? Is it because I forgot to train my fire breath? Next time, prepare to meet your doom after my revenge!' Then he disappeared. After that, he dropped a bird cage that looks identical to the one for Big Boo's Haunt, but inside the cage, a yellow Toad told me an Action Replay code to unlock Luigi."
Theorizing[]
Theories exist saying that this boss fight were once planned to give players a way to unlock Luigi, but it was removed for some reasons. It might be removed alongside the deletion of Luigi or removed so players won't be scared while playing. The Luigi theory can also be matched with the destruction of the plaque, which also suggests the existence of Luigi.
